FIRECOMP PROJECT
Modelling the thermo-mechanical behaviour of high pressure vessels, made of composite materials when exposed to fire conditions
State of the art in using composite material for transport of high pressure gas.
Hydrogen is expected to be highly valuable energy carrier for the 21st century. To exploit its benefits at large scale, further research and technological developments are required. In particular, the performance of the storage of hydrogen under high pressure must be assessed. Keeping the integrity of composite pressure vessels in case of fire is necessary to protect people, infrastructure and the environment.
More efficient protection strategies are then required to increase societal acceptance and consolidate the hydrogen energy business.
